Dr Madalena Lykourgos

Dr Madalena Lykourgos has almost 10 years of experience working in a variety of mental health services for the NHS.

Her background includes working with individuals of all ages, families and groups, across both inpatient and outpatient settings. She is experienced in the assessment and treatment of a spectrum of psychological needs, ranging from mild to more complex mental health difficulties. These include:

  • Anxiety, panic and phobias
  • OCD
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Stress
  • Low self-esteem
  • Sleep issues
  • Psychosis
  • Personality disorders

Amongst her other academic qualifications, Madalena holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from UCL and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She has been trained in a number of therapeutic approaches, enabling her to tailor the sessions to the unique needs of each individual. She draws particularly on:

  • Cognitive behavioural approaches
  • Compassion-Focused theory
  • Acceptance and Commitment theory
  • Systemic and narrative approaches
  • Psychodynamic approaches
  • Trauma-informed models of care

Dr Lykourgos is very warm and friendly in her approach and ideal for the anxious client. She has a special interest in working with people from diverse and minoritised backgrounds to offer a safe, inclusive and compassionate therapeutic space.

When not working she enjoys cooking, supporting Spurs and travelling around the Greek islands.
