Dr Ana-Maria Ilea is an experienced General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist with a special interest in Eating Disorders, having spent more than 5 years working in highly specialist ED units in London.
Dr Ilea has extensive experience working with a wide range of psychiatric illnesses, including Personality Disorders, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Trauma related disorders, Psychosis and ADHD. She has been working in the private sector for the past 8 years and has been managing very complex psychiatric cases, both in the inpatient and outpatient sectors.
Dr Ilea is trained in Behavioural Family Therapy and Mentalisation Based Therapy, as well as ADOS-2 and ADI-R.
Dr Ilea joined The Blue Tree Clinic in 2017. She strongly believes in a Multidisciplinary, patient centered approach in delivering the best care for her patients.
Dr Ilea enjoys working with her patients and their family/carers and is a strong advocate of supporting her patients through every step of their journey, working together as partners and also learning from each other. The journey can be very difficult at times and therefore it is crucial to feel listened to and understood, to not loose hope, while also knowing that the conversation can take place in a safe space and with an experienced professional, who is there solely for you. “I believe that everyone should have a fair chance to recovery, no matter how challenging it may prove to be some times. All my efforts, along with our teams’, go into achieving this. Our ethos is never to give up, but to find a way forward together”.
Dr Ilea is an Affiliate Member of the Royal College of Psychiatry. Within her current role in the inpatient environment, Dr Ilea holds different responsibilities, including OSCE examiner for medical students, chair of the Medical Advisory Committee and Appraiser for the organisation.
