Tarni is a qualified and experienced Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and Psychodynamic Counsellor. Her qualifications include an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy for Children and Adolescents from Birkbeck University of London and a foundation degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Regent’s University of London. She began working with clients aged between 5-10 years old at a Primary school in South West London for two years, working with long-term clients covering a various range of mental health issues and learning disabilities.
She then went on to work as a psychodynamic counsellor for children and teenagers aged between 10-25 years old with the organisation Off The Record in Bath and North East Somerset, who she continues to work for currently.
Tarni has worked with a range of mental health issues such as eating disorders, self-harm and suicidal thoughts, anxiety and depression, Post-Traumatic Stress disorder, and victims of emotional, physical and sexual abuse.
Tarni is also involved with a project called ‘Mind the gap’ with CAMHS (Southmead Hospital) and Redcliff sixth form college which is in aid of spreading mental health awareness in schools and colleges in Bristol. This has involved giving assembly’s and workshops to the students in the hope of banishing the stigma that comes with mental health issues for children and teenagers and providing them with a safe, contained environment where they can explore such issues.
