Dr Jemma Theivendran – Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Jemma is a GMC registered Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist working with children, young people and their families to overcome a wide range of challenges and mental health issues.

Jemma works in both the NHS and the private sector. She holds a Consultant position at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and is trained in Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) and Dialetical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).

Jemma qualified at Imperial College London. She completed her psychiatry training across the St Mary’s and Charing Cross hospital training schemes, and then South West London and St Georges NHS Trust. She is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatry and an honorary clinical lecturer at St George’s University of London. She also contributes her time and clinical expertise to mental health charities.

She believes in treating the individual holistically, and has therefore pursued diplomas in Nutrition and Sports Medicine. She believes in the multidisciplinary approach and works with the Blue Tree team to ensure the best care is provided – which may include medication, therapy and lifestyle changes. She understands the anxiety around seeking help for mental health, and has a gentle approach to consultations. She is kind and caring, and supports young people to gain access to opportunities in education and beyond.

Dr Jemma specialises in Anxiety disorders (including social anxiety, generalised anxiety, panic disorder, OCD), Mood disorders (including depression, bipolar disorder, emotional regulation) PTSD, ASD, ADHD, Psychotic Disorders, and other disorders.

In her spare time, Jemma enjoys cooking, yoga and likes to binge-watch the occasional show on Netflix – suggestions welcome.

Dr Jemma is on maternity leave – we hope to welcome her back soon!
